Academy president Rahim Uchil told reporters on Wednesday that in order to access this feature, it is mandatory for the user to login. “It is one of the best online services for easy and fast translations. This is an important development after the launch of the Beary script last year, and efforts are on to convert any language script into Beary. The academy is working on getting Unicode technology and has also approached the Initiative on Dravidian Culture and Languages,’’ he said.
Three students from St Aloysius College as part of their final year BCA project, have worked on the development of the website. The students U T Mohammad Mashfooq Hussain, K A Ismail Shafeeq and Melroy Pinto worked on the project in close coordination with the script committee of the academy.

Ismail Shafeeq said this application reads through the material. It is organised into different sections that consist of vowels, consonants and numbers. The Beary script has 13 vowels, 33 consonants and numbers. If one clicks on each character, an animated video will be displayed. It includes notes on pronunciation and many different examples. It also has a Kannada character below the Beary character, which helps local users learn with ease. It is an excellent resource for learners who want to build their Beary vocabulary. “We will continue to work on it and incorporate further developments,’’ he added.
