Subject: Filling up of three (3) posts of Scientist G in India Meteorological Department (IMD), New Delhi on direct recruitment basis.

Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India invites applications for the 03 (three) posts of Scientists G in India Meteorological Department, New Delhi in the Pay Level-14 of Pay Matrix (Rs.144200-218200/-) and other allowances as admissible to central government employees at Delhi, to be appointed on direct recruitment basis.

Method of Recruitment : Direct recruitment

Qualification & Experience:

Essential:

i. A Master's Degree in Physics/Mathematics/Meteorology or Atmospheric Sciences with at least first class (60%) in the qualifying degree.

ii. A Bachelors Degree in Electronics/Communication/Telecommunication Engineering with at least first class (60%) in the qualifying degree.

iii. 21 (Twenty one) years experience in teaching (at graduate or post graduate level), research and development, survey, administration, planning, supervision or training etc in the relevant fields.

Desirable:-

i. Doctorate in a branch of Science or equivalent as per the requirement;

ii. A Master's Degree in a branch of Engineering/Technology or equivalent as per the requirement with at least first class (60%) in the qualifying degree;

iii. Doctorate degree shall count as three years experience;

iv. Whoever does not have the workable knowledge of Hindi, he/she shall be required to acquire the same during his/her probation period.

Area of Activity :

i. Satellite Meteorology/Tele-Communication System.

ii. Climate Monitoring, Climate Prediction (Extended, seasonal and beyond), Climate Data, Products and services, and Climate Research, Climate Change, Climate Data Processing.

iii. Meteorological Observational systems including Surface, Upper Air, Radar etc.

Scale of Pay : The post of Scientist G at IMD is in the Pay Level 14 (Rs.144200- 218200/-), and other allowances as admissible to Central Government employees.

Age limit (as on normal closing date) : Not exceeding 50 years (Relaxable for Government Servants up to five years in accordance with the instructions or orders issued by the Central Government).

Note : The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be the closing date for receipt of applications from candidates in India.

Selection Process : Interested persons are requested to send their application in the pro-forma at Annexure-I. The application complete in all respects should be addressed to the Deputy Secretary (Estt.), Ministry of Earth Sciences, Prithvi Bhavan, Lodhi Road, New Delhi-110 003 within 6 weeks (42 days) [60 days for those in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of Jammu and Kashmir State, Lahaul and Spiti District and Pangi Sub Division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep) from the publication of the advertisement in the Employment News.

General Conditions

I. The Ministry reserves the right to cancel the recruitment without assigning any reason.

II. The prescribed essential qualifications are minimum and the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview. If the number of applications received in response to advertisement is large, it shall not be convenient/ possible for the Search cum Selection Committee to interview all the candidates. No Correspondence shall be entertained with candidates who are not called for interview/selected for appointment. Canvassing in any form will result in disqualification of candidature.

III. Experience will be counted after completion of essential academic qualifications.

IV. TA/DA will not be admissible for attending interview as the case may be.

V. How To Apply : Applications should be neatly typed on thick plain paper (A 4 size 210x 297mm) in the prescribed format given below.

(a) Candidates working in Government/Semi-Government Department/Public Sector Undertaking/ Autonomous/Statutory organization should apply through proper channel.

(b) Copies of certificates in support of educational qualifications, date of birth, and experience should be attached with the application. Candidates will have to produce the original certificates as and when required.

(c) Applications received after the closing date or received incomplete in any respect are liable to be summarily rejected. No representation against such rejection shall be entertained.
